Name one person you know that doesn’t own a pair of blue jeans. Whether for fashion or for practicality, they’re a staple everyone’s wardrobe.

The founders at Huue Bio say synthetic Indigo industry is notoriously secretive, but from their calculations it takes about 130 kilograms of petroleum to make one kilogram of the indigo dye used to make jeans. 

The fashion industry is hungry for change. Brands are being held responsible by more conscious consumers - that means creating more sustainable solutions for the responsible production and recycling of clothing. Co-Founders Michelle Zhu and Tammy Hsu of Huue Bio are observing natural systems and enginerring bacteria to mimic them, creating an indigo dye that will color your jeans without degrading the environment.
